APPARATUS SCULPTORIS BY CARLO TELARA MARMI, MARBLE, GRANITE, ONYX, TRAVERTINE, BLOCKS, SLABS, QUARRIES IN CARRARA

APPARATUS SCULPTORIS is an art and industry project in Carrara on the premises of Carlo Telara s.r.l. We offer courses in marble and stone sculpture and carving techniques, marble and stone carving facilities and develop environmental art projects with artists.

APPARATUS SCULPTORIS is a project combining art, environmental art, and industry and is located on the premises of the marble factory "CARLO TELARA s.r.l. in Carrara. The space it occupies in the factory is fitted out for to provide services related to carving facilities, courses in stone carving, in marble sculpture, all in industrial environment.
Periodically APPARATUS SCULPTORIS welcomes temporary exhibitions and residential projects to provide links between the creative work of artists, and the marble industry.
In a factory extending over 25,000 sqm. built in the 50s, the APPARATUS SCULPTORIS space nestles among the slabs and blocks of marble from all over the world. The location is easy to reach, a stone’s throw from Versilia, Pisa, Lucca and just over an hour away from Parma, Genoa and Florence. (Airports: Pisa Km. 50, Florence Km. 110, Genoa Km. 110).
SCULPTURE WORKSHOP: all work stations are equipped with electricity compressed air, work supports, changing rooms. There is a separate space set aside for monuments.

Apparatus Sculptoris also supply and prepare shapeless and cut-to-size blockes (Carrara White, Statuary and all varieties available on the market) ready at work site, take care of packing and transport to final destination.

TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE and/or the completion of commissioned works from models or drawings. APPARATUS SCULPTORIS enjoys the collaboration of professional sculptors graduated from Carrara Fine Arts Academy and Carrara Marble Industry and Crafts School as well as expert crafts people.
Sculpture Courses: two-weeks specialisation courses for artists or students are organised from May to October. A working holiday to acquire from expert tutors the basic traditional techniques for marble sculpture. Tutors: italian and foreign sculptors specialized in Carrara in all marble and stone carving techniques.

Residential courses:
Courses will be held from May to October; winter courses can be negotiated.
All courses begin on Monday and last for two weeks.
Marble Sculpture Courses for groups min. 6 max. 10 people for 2 weeks with teacher for 7 hours a day.
The studio will be open to the students from Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Collaboration with coordinated groups (f.i. private schools, academy etc.) are welcomed.

Group booking of three or more will be considered, price negotiable

Services available for foreigners:
Translations services (English, French and Dutch), possibility to rent more expensive tools, excursions, assistance for packing and transport. Assistance for Hotel booking.

Note: Apparatus Sculptoris is situated right across the railway station where one can take the train to Florence, Pisa, Lucca, Cinque Terre.

Excursions with guide to quarries, different studios, individual artists studios, memorable sites, exhibitions, etc.
Cut to size marble blocks
Any machinery required is subject to prior agreement (pneumatic hammers with steel or widia tools, eletrical machinery with diamond or abrasive disks).

Help of artisans

Arrivals: Students are expected to arrive on Sunday before the course begins and leave by Sunday morning following the courses ends.
Work gear: Overalls, gloves, protective glasses and protective gear.

Responsability: all guests must take out their own accident insurance. Guests will be entirely responsible for any damage to persons or things which may arise during their stay. Apparatus Sculptoris di Carlo Telara s.r.l. accepts no responsability whatsoever for any accidents which may occur during their stay (ECC guests from outside Italy should obtain the E111 helth form).
Insurance: all guests must take out their own accident insurance. Guests will be entirely responsible for any damage to persons or things which may arise during their stay.
Apparatus Sculptoris accepts no responsability whatsoever for accidents which may occur during their stay.
Conditions for the partecipation of the course:
All bookings must be accompanied by completed booking form together with a down-payment of euro 210,00 into: Banca Toscana - Avenza (607) account n° 45000/95 ABI 3400 CAB 24501 or by bank cheque to: Rava S.p.A via Carriona 263 - 54031 Avenza Carrara (MS) Italy.
The remaining sum should be paid upon arrival before the course begins.
A 50% reimbursement will be given only for cancellations in writing at least four weeks before the course is due to begin. No reimbursement will be made for cancellations made in the last four weeks leading up to the course starting date. If, for serious technical reasons, Apparatus Sculptoris should not be able to hold the course for the chosen dates, guests will be notified thereof and requested to select other dates or given full reimbursement of the sums paid. Any contract or invoice signed by Apparatus Sculptoris is in full complience with italian law.
